Pancreas Center

Disorders of the pancreas are quite uncommon, and there are very few medical centers in the region that are able to provide multidisciplinary care and expertise for these complicated and often life-threatening disorders.
Together with both John Theurer Cancer Center and HackensackUMC, we have developed a center of excellence dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of pancreatic diseases.  This includes pancreatic cancer, pre-malignant lesions of the pancreas, including cystic lesions, pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), pancreatic pseudocysts and various other uncommon pancreatic entities.
Our specialized team offers:
  • Early detection of pancreatic tumors
  • Early treatment of pancreatic tumors
  • Minimally invasive treatment of pancreatic tumors, both malignant and pre-malignant
  • Diagnosis and treatment of common and uncommon causes of pancreatitis
  • Treatment of complications of pancreatitis, including necrosis and pseudocysts
  • Pain management and palliative therapy
We utilize the latest and most advanced state-of-the-art technology to image and treat the pancreas, including:
  • Endoscopic ultrasonography with fine needle biopsy
  • Oncogene and advanced cytologic analysis of pancreatic cyst fluid
  • Intraductal endoscopic ultrasonography
  • ERCP, choledochoscopy and pancreatoscopy
  • CT scan with 3D reconstruction
  • MRI, 3D MRI and MRCP
  • PET scan
  • Intraoperative ultrasonography
  • DaVinci robotic therapy and conventional pancreatic surgery
  • Intraductal and pancreatic radiofrequency ablation (the first hospital in NJ to offer such therapy)
  • Specialized radiotherapy, including IMRT
We also conduct NIH research on both the causes and best treatments for pancreatic cancer.
We have partnered with both Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and National Pancreas Foundation for community outreach, research efforts, and educational opportunities, and have established the first chapter of National Pancreas Foundation in New Jersey.
We understand how stressful a diagnosis of pancreatic disease is to you.  We have streamlined your access to this pioneering Center with just one phone call.  A specialized team member will help coordinate all of your care here at HackensackUMC, and help you navigate through it.  In fact, you will see a team member within three days of your phone call.  We will work with your insurance company and make sure that all testing and treatment scheduling is as stress-and hassle-free as possible.
We will also work with your referring doctors and will provide them with regular updates about your condition and care here with us.  We offer both primary management and consultative services to the pancreas disease community.
